Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder

I have been using the Flip MinoHD for about 5 weeks now and heartily recommend it. Not only does it take great quality 720p video, but it takes a whole hour of video without recharging.

I’ve experimented quite a bit with mine and posted a few videos onto Viddler.com. After using a Canon Powershot to take video over the last couple of years, this is a big jump for me. One thing that always bugged me about the Canon was that if I filmed directly into the sun or at a bright light or reflection it would show these huge white vertical bands in the video.

The Flip MinoHD doesn’t do this! So check out the Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) on Amazon.com (about $200 at the moment).

The average customer rating on Amazon.com is 5 stars. Yeah, seriously. You can read the reviews here. This device is essentially an espresso machine on-the-go. For about $117 you get a device that can pull shots of espresso at 9 bar pressure, and doesn’t need electricity — because you pump it like a bicycle pump. Yeah, pretty cool.

CNET did a review and called it “an answered prayer.” The only little problem I see is that it uses pods. Meh. I wonder if you can get past that… it’s such a simple product, so maybe you can. Anybody have experience with that?

You would be crazy not to want a Citrus Powered Clock. I mean, seriously! It is powered by a lemon and it keeps time!

Unfortunately, it isn’t for sale — yet. Otherwise I’d snap one up. Designed by Florian Dussopt + Julie Girard. The wooden plank has two spikes of copper and zinc built into it. Reportedly, a single lemon will for your digital clock about one or two weeks.

The first question on your mind is likely about the name — Gadgetdiver?

My first inclination when naming a gadget blog was to include the word “gadget.” Done.

The second goal to include an interesting word that conveys the discovery process. It was at that point while watching the Olympic divers on television that I came up with Gadgetdiver. There you have it. The naming process for a blog which I hope can quickly become a guaranteed source of news about cool gadgets.

Topics will range from cameras and lenses to computer gadgets and even tools for your home. Welcome to Gadgetdiver!
